By Megan Hall. Due to the recent pandemic, our ability to go where we want, when we want has been limited. This hasn’t all been negative, as it has encouraged many people to return to the outdoors! If you’re eager to start a hobby or activity that will allow you to spend more time outdoors, but not sure where to start – here’s some ideas! The first suggestion is super simple – walking. Whether it’s around your local park or a drive to a national park, enjoy the greenery and fresh air. Make it a social event by walking with friends, family or you could even join a local rambling club! If you need more motivation to get outside, how about taking up photography of all things natural! You don’t need a professional camera, your phone would be fine, just an eye for a good shot. Flower, trees, the sky and animals are all interesting things to photograph and will allow you to appreciate nature and the outdoors from a different angle. Get snapping! Gardening is another nature-inspired hobby you can start! If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, get outside and give it some attention – plant a new type of flower or start a vegetable patch (you can use the vegetables of your labour for cooking). If you don’t have a garden – fear not you can still start gardening! An allotment might be the best alternative, find your local allotment using this link. Or you can bring nature indoors by getting some windowsill and indoor plants or hanging baskets. A simple online search can help with finding the best type of indoor plants, here are some useful links. https://www.countryliving.com/gardening/garden-ideas/advice/g1341/indoor-gardening/ https://happydiyhome.com/indoor-plant-care/ Enjoy!
