Friends of the Elderly are exactly what they say they are; they exist to support older people who are affected by loneliness and provides grants for those living on a lower incomes.

They want to create a society where senior people are treated with respect and have the opportunity to lead happy and fulfilled lives.

Friends of the Elderly do this in two ways – the first being through their grants programme, provides financial assistance to those who are retired.

These grants are designed to relieve the stress and worry of those who are on a low income.

Secondly, Friends of the Elderly also run a befriending programme.

The Befriending programme organises home visits from a ‘visiting friend’ to combat loneliness in older people in the Woking area. Just like a friend, the ‘visiting friends’ volunteers will share the ups and downs of life with the older person, whilst helping them get out and about in their local community.

Friends of the Elderly has brought smiles to the faces of so many senior members of our Community and has assisted them financially through one of the toughest times in their life. The work that Friends of the Elderly is doing is truly positive – we are glad to be supporting them through our Crowdfunding campaign!

The silver lining!
